I have entered the world of Home theater purchasing a whole system including Big screen TV!
I got to tell ya that there is nothing like it, an if you are thinking about it, go for it. You'll love it.
My system was udated to Dolby Digital and DTS and now consist of the following:
Sony STR-D E 835 Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS Reciever
Toshiba SDK-710 Progressive Scan DVD Player
Nuance Advantage front and center speakers
Boston Acoustics VRS Micro Surround Speakers
Nuance CX-100 Powered Sub Woofer
Sony KP 57" Wide Screen HDTV Television
TVRO Satellite system containing:
7.8' Kaultronics C/KU Band Dish
Cal Amps LNB
General Instruments 650i Receiver with Awsum Anywhere Remote
Motorolla 902 Digital Side Car
Monster Cables and Interconnects
The final touch to my system, the Satellite is the ultimate. I am now pulling in almost 200 channels regularly and many more "Wild Feeds" that a little searching does. And spending the same as I was for 46 channels on cable!
I went with the big dish because I wanted more than the basic stuff available on cable through the DSS stuff. I love finding all these feeds that are raw and unedited.
Of course the main reason I got it was to watch the 49ers every week through NFL Ticket.
The differancee between Pro Logic Surround and Dolby Digital is amazing. I now have the Surrounds mounted on the ceiling and the pinpoint clarity is great.
The Nuance speakers are exceptional. My living room seems to be the perfect size and layout as these speakers throw all kinds of little sounds all over the room. One thing I do recommend is getting the powered sub, it makes all the difference in the world for that floor shaking bass effect when watching a movie.
I bought the RCA 52" TV and so far am very impressed with the picture. I looked at alot of 50"-52" sets and ones that were alot more had less picture quality.
I would like to hear from anyone that has a home theater system and how some of your components work and get any tips you might like to pass along. In the meantime I suggest you visit some of the related sites below, get alot of info before you purchase, and most of all look at alot of TV's in your price range. At several stores in my area I noticed that the prices for similar stuff varied quite a bit.
